When the headlines were dominated in April about the struggles to get PPE to NHS staff a business in Tameside considered how he could help. With over 25 years experience Martin Revell from Colour Illusion, a Denton business formerly known as Revalation Displays, started to produce face shields that could be sent in a simple flat pack for easy self-assembly. We asked how the idea started.
“With the PPE issues reported on the news I just started to think what I could do with the machines I have here. I heard someone was making visors and straight away I thought yes, I could do something like that. Because I’m isolated here at the unit, I was able to produce a few of these and just help where I could locally. I found some great resources online to help produce them because there had been so much demand and it was all hands to the pump.”
They aren’t the usual items you produce.
“Well no, our usual items are bespoke lighting, laser etched images which provide unique lamps, light fittings or collector displays. Musician lamps, car lamps, football stadium lamps, guitar designs and many more. Some of them are like pieces of artwork and can be in an illuminated frame too. You can buy some of our products at Dizzi Gothic in Ashton town centre, including the visor kits at £4, or find us on Facebook at Colour Illusion UK.”
