Hyde Fundraisers have had their fundraising hit by Covid 19 this year with the restrictions in place making it virtually impossible to raise money for BBC Children in Need and other charities. The Pandemic has seen events cancelled and fundraising appearances curtailed in 2020 which is like so many other charitable organisations.
However, the team have come up with a great idea to support this year’s appeal with a special series online about their successful TRIAL OF DAVROS stage show. Originally performed at The Village Hotel in November 1993, the TRIAL OF DAVROS sees the creator of the Daleks brought to account by the Timelords for all the death and destruction they caused.
The show received praise from fans and the fundraisers celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2005 by staging it at Tameside Hippodrome starring Terry Molloy who had played Davros opposite Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. That performance raised £3500 for the NSPCC and £4000 for BBC Children in Need.
Contributors to the online special include cast members Terry Molloy, Andy Wisher, Hylton Collins and John Leeson from the 2005 play. There is also behind the scenes interviews, unseen footage and other treats for Dr Who fans to devour when the material is launched for this year’s appeal.
The group are hoping to raise £4000 once again this November with the special online presentations and are encouraging fans to dig deep for charity as they enjoy the content.
