The 2021 speedway season in Britain is looking at a May start subject to Covid restrictions allowing this.

Clubs are currently piecing together their teams with Tameside-based local riders all geared up and ready for action.

Ashton’s Kyle Howarth has signed on again for the Sheffield Tigers who race in the sport’s top league, the Premiership. Stalybridge resident Josh Auty will again line up with the Scunthorpe Scorpions in the Championship League.

Hopefully Josh will be able to stage his testimonial meeting this year at Scunthorpe after it was postponed last year due to the racing season being cancelled. Josh is the Scorpion’s highest point scorer and hugely popular with the club’s fans.

Belle Vue favourite Charles Wright has confirmed his plans for 2021 have not changed and he is hoping to ride for the famous Aces team and is likely to take over as the number one rider with them.

The prestigious British Individual Final will take place at the National Speedway Stadium at Belle Vue on Monday August 18th – Charles won the title there in 2019.
