SOCIALISE SAFELY IN STALYBRIDGE

Three years ago, Stalybridge Labour Club was saved from closure by benefactor Colin Hancock who wanted the venue to become more of a community hub for Stalybridge.  There was some refurbishment done to the club to improve the facilities that could be utilised by people in Stalybridge and beyond.

The current manager, Councillor Sam Gosling, had worked at the club previously and since taking the helm over 18 months ago has introduced quite a few changes.  These included improvements to the stage to give greater opportunity for live music with some great gigs and charity nights. It’s hoped to host a Summer Festival to raise funds for the NHS with free admission but encouraging donations from attendees. In 2019 the venue was host to the after party for Tameside Pride too. Although club by name the venue is open to everyone offering a family friendly environment to relax and socialise together.  You can view BT & Sky Sports football matches, book the function rooms, play snooker and try the extensive range of beers on offer from traditional ales to the popular Brewdog exclusively on draught in the area. Obviously with the onset of Covid 19 there are social distancing measures in place including screens at the main bars and a register for track and trace.  Entertainment has recently returned at weekends with safe distance balcony music entertainment from local artists and Sam is hoping to introduce live stage performances when circumstances permit.  Recently the club has been actively supporting an initiative to bring cycling into the community and is now a hub for the local Foodbank.  The support for the Foodbank was in support of local man, Steven Barton, who had been doing tremendous work locally and the club were delighted to support his work.

A new addition at the new Stalybridge Labour Club is offering a fantastic range of barista style coffee to enjoy at the club or take away! So, if you’re looking for a safe and spacious environment in Tameside check out the new Stalybridge Labour Club on Acres Lane to receive a warm welcome from Sam and the team.
